m3ter Achieves SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 Certifications

At m3ter, we are deeply committed to data security, privacy and integrity of our billing calculations. Because we operate as an integral layer in our customers' billing infrastructure, our customers’ trust is extremely important to us.  

Our initial commitment to this was highlighted with the SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 1 certifications achieved last year, and since then we’ve doubled down to validate our ongoing compliance.

We are thrilled to announce we have received our Type 2 certifications for both SOC 1 and SOC 2. 

What Type 2 certification means

Our customers expect to see independent, industry-standard audits of our operations, and we believe that SOC 1 and SOC 2 are the best frameworks to instil confidence in how we operate.

The Type 1 certifications were the first step for us and showed:

1. SOC 1 - we have the processes and quality mechanisms in place to ensure that customer billing data is processed securely, repeatably and accurately, and
2. SOC 2 - that m3ter has the appropriate policies, processes and controls in place to maintain the security, availability and confidentiality of customer data.

Type 2 is a recurring yearly audit that requires us to prove we’ve consistently implemented these controls during the audit period. The audit reports show the details of our controls and how the auditors validated their implementation. We're proud to have achieved this validation of the high levels of security and data processing integrity that we know our customers demand.

Having SOC reports makes it easier for our customers when they need to validate our security and data processing controls as part of their own vendor management and audit processes.
